Description
This piece was made with my deep love for flowers and gardens in mind.
When the idea came to me I was seeing Monet’s pond colours, roses, and all the beauty of a full summer blooming garden.
I also wanted to make it in the days leading up to the summer solstice, and as my roses began filling in, I started imagining a summer solstice Rose essence to go along with it.
–
So on the morning of the solstice {June 21st} I jumped out of bed ready to pull the shawl off of the loom, gather rose petals and combine these two beauties together.
–
I started by setting up my rose flower essence in a crystal bowl and then, adding some extra petals as I always soak my weavings to bind the fibres together, in this case I added in some full moon water I gathered from a local creek and added in the roses and other flowers from my garden, this will bring the essence of those flowers deep into the shawl itself, infusing it with the fullness of the summer solstice.
–
Whoever takes this piece home will also receive a little bottle of the rose flower essence, as roses are a beautiful ally for deep heart healing work, moving grief and protection of the tender hearted.
–
The shawl was made using a warp of 100% cotton and then woven using Malabrigo Merino wool.
