Description
As Winter’s cold reaches its tendrils of frost and snow ever deeper into the season, and nights are long, my weaving and makings often turn to winter whites and greys, as I find that the palette of winter is so often more beautiful than we give it credit for.
–
I also find that the winter grandmothers of the land such as the Cailleach, a winter crone/grandmother who is found all over Ireland and Scotland deep within the lore and lands there.
–
The Cailleach is the grandmother of both the mountains and lands, of the loch’s and moors, but also of the deep caves and craggy places where no humans tend to roam, especially in the wintertime.
She is a bringer of change, be it large or small, be it welcome or not, and deep within the winter darkness she holds us to our dreams, bringing transformation and initiation, wanted or not…
–
This shawl carries the essence of the winter Cailleach within the colours of grey and white, of wild hair and craggy hillsides, it is a mantle to keep you warm over these cold months, and I hope you like it…
