Description
This piece is inspired by the winter Cailleach sometimes called the Bone woman, as stories tell of her having a house full of bones as markers for how long she has been alive, so many in fact that one could never ever count them all! This talisman serves as a potent touch point for those who with the Cailleach and wish to keep her close.
In this piece I used white Howlite beads, white sculls and small and small bone beads between. What makes this piece so special though are the two small pyrite moons on either side of the piece and of course the stunning Botswana agate pendant.
Howlite: Soft, soothing, and ever ready to tempt you back off the emotional ledge, Howlite is all about tempering the storm. This creamy white stone sometimes shot with silver veins is also known as White Buffalo, Sacred Buffalo, White Turquoise, Kaolinite, Lapis Howlite, and by its more scientific edged name of Silico Boro Calcite.
In times of emotional turmoil, Howlite acts as a soothing balm for the soul. It promotes emotional expression, enabling you to articulate your feelings with clarity and empathy. Howlite’s calming energy helps reduce anger, stress, and anxiety, allowing you to navigate life’s challenges with a composed and balanced demeanor.
Botswana Agate is a form of chalcedony, which is a type of mineral that is composed of microscopic crystals of quartz. The name “Botswana Agate” comes from the fact that this stone is found exclusively in Botswana, a country located in southern Africa. Botswana Agate is known for its unique banding patterns, which are a result of the stone forming in layers of volcanic ash.
Botswana agate is said to offer spiritual protection, helping to ward off negative energies and promote positivity.
Botswana Agate is a useful receptacle for negative energy and toxicity, excellent for gridding around a house. It prevents out-of-body visitations from another soul and turns back unwelcome spirits. [Hall II, 42]
Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. Its warm, protective properties encourage security and self-confidence. It is a great crystal to use during pregnancy. [Gienger, 7]
Agate is useful as a protection amulet when traveling, and is especially effective against traffic accidents. It is is said to repel spiders!
Pyrite: Not all that glimmers is gold as pyrite proves with its precious hues and potent protective properties. Pyrite meaning comes from the Greek word for Pyr, which translates to fire – an echo of how the light catches on the surface of the stone, or perhaps in testament to the strong masculine energy and sense of perfect passion.
Despite its illustrious name, Pyrite is actually an earth stone rich in iron sulfide – hewn from the far reaches of Namibia, the mystical heartlands of Peru, the golden mountains of Spain and Mexico, and the icy distances of Canada.
Pyrite evokes courage and strength in order to face our emotional demons and release any negative energy, particularly fear, that is caught in our emotional bodies. It is a protective stone whose primary purpose is to help us gain a more joyful and fulfilling life. It increases self-confidence and encourages us to be more extroverted and social. Its happy and energetic vibration teaches us to love with everything in us, both giving and receiving with equal pleasure.
