Ancient Spindle Talisman

Ancient Spindle Talisman

$145.00

These beautiful Clay Spindle Whorl Kievan Rus 900-1100 A.D./ Viking Age,  were a rare find on my part and I as a weaver and lover of textiles both ancient and modern was thrilled to find them, and even more delighted to sit down and make them into small talismanic necklaces for those so inclined to wear something like this. I aim imagining my weaver and spinner friends.

My inspiration was essentially to bring a small piece of history close to us, as well as imbuing a little bit of magic into their creation with the use of specific stones and intention setting.

The intention/blessing was simple: “May the cloth and thread of those who wear these talismans ever be strong and may their strings never tangle, may there always be magic in all they create and may they never forget the ancestors who went before that taught us all we know about this sacred craft.”

In this piece I decided to match the paleness of this clay spindle with some ancient beads in the same spectrum: The first are some Matte Picture Jasper beads which bring in deep grounding, but also it is a stone that supports vast creative visioning and connection to our higher creative souls.

it is also a deeply earth based stone of protection and wearing it serves as a grounding conductor essential for energetic protection.

Etched Tibetan agate beads which add in an element of protection, courage and tranquility.

I have also added four ancient Fossilized Mammoth Bone beads are said to be a symbol os ancient power and resilience as well as connecting us to the ancient past our ancestors and of course it is said that having a small piece  can bring to you wearer the spirit of the mammoth can act as a guardian, offering protection and strength to those who possess a mammoth bone.
