Mask talisman

Mask talisman

$125.00

This stunning piece came together from a large horn mask bead that I brought back from my trip to Nairobi and paired with both amber and wooden beads.

African masks can symbolize either the spirits or animals whose likeness they were carved into or supernatural forces such as the ancestors. They are used in rituals and ceremonies, and are often worn by dancers. The wearer is believed to be able to communicate with the spirit represented by the mask.

In this case we have a mask more as a symbol that represents these things that is paired with amber beads which are ancient memory keepers, as often they hold small insects and other pieces of our ancestral history. Amber was considered the “soul of the tiger” in Asian cultures and regarded as the stone of courage. Pieces of amber were carried for protection during long travels, as it is a resin that helps with anxiety and brings a grounding calming effect tho those that carry or wear it.
